The House of Ortega
The House of Ortega,
a house museum with works by the artist who lived there. A place that will tell you about art and culture characterized by unique views.
Created by the Zetema Foundation, this project aims to raise awareness of the life and works of the Spanish artist. Ortega has created works by combining his talent with the papier-mâché processing of the papier-mâché masters of the Città dei Sassi.
The House of Ortega Works
This House Museum is an exhibition area that houses some of the works created by the Spanish artist in the 70s after moving to Matera. The works were donated by the artist’s family.
The house has several rooms finely decorated with fine ceramics and furnishings. On display you will find over twenty works created by the artist, bas-reliefs made with techniques learned from local artisans and improved with his talent.
The Museum can be reached from Piazza Duomo and Via San’Antonio. The entrance ticket entitles you to a discount for the Musma. These attractors, together with the Crypt of Original Sin, are managed by the Syncronos cooperative
