Musma Museum

The Musma, Museum of Contemporary Sculpture Matera, preserves the sculptures of more than a century in a unique environment.

the structure of Palazzo Pomarici, a few steps from the Cathedral, like many noble buildings of the Sassi, has the lower part made up of caves. These environments make the Musma a unique and recognized museum among the most beautiful and important in Italy.

The Musma is the only museum in the cave and can boast national and international artists. The symbiosis between the environments carved out of the tuff and the works contained in them make this museum a magical place in which to immerse yourself.

The Museum boasts a permanent collection of over 400 works including drawings, engravings, ceramic medals and other sculptures.

This museum also lends itself to events and exhibitions.

It is possible to add the Musma from piazza Duomo or from piazza San Pietro Caveoso

Its management of the museum is private and is managed by Syncronos together with other important attractions such as La casa di Ortega and the Crypt of sin
